Example: Baseline Testing

Procedure: Taking a baseline heart-rate test:


  1. Have test subject sit down and wait quietly and relaxed for 3 minutes.
  2. Find subject's radial pulse.
  3. Begin timer for 15 seconds and count heart rate during those 15 seconds.
  4. Record 15 second pulse rate on data table.
  5. If subject's resting heart rate is above 95 beats per minute(BPM) allow them to rest for an additional 3 minutes and repeat steps 2 to 4.
  6. If subject's heart rate continues to be elevated, find new test subject.
