- Have test subject sit down and wait quietly and relaxed for 3 minutes.
- Find subject's radial pulse.
- Begin timer for 15 seconds and count heart rate during those 15 seconds.
- Record 15 second pulse rate on data table.
- If subject's resting heart rate is above 95 beats per minute(BPM) allow them to rest for an additional 3 minutes and repeat steps 2 to 4.
- If subject's heart rate continues to be elevated, find new test subject.
